Impact of the Project
Providing the client with a clear and easy to implement set of requirements in order to configurate their own self-scan checkout units.
By using the hands-on design technique we could convince the client to change his mind of earlier assumptions he had according to behavior with self-scan checkouts.
At Achilles Design, I had the opportunity to work on redesigning checkout zones within retailers to optimize them for self scan services. I worked closely together with product designers from Achilles Design and the client to orchestrate and moderate the ideation workshops. The challenge in this project lies in using the known resources and existing structures to implement a self scan service in an existing checkout zone. By using bodystorming techniques we could easily validate different actions customers could perform while scanning.
